Description
Postcard with a black and white photograph of an ice gorge on the Kaw River on the front. Photograph depicts the oriver covered in ice sheets. At the bottom of the photograph "1839A. Ice Jam, Kaw River, Lawrence, Kans. Photo by Studio Jackson" is printed in white ink. At the top of the photograph "water works" is written in black ink above a smoke stack on the left side. On the right side of the photograph "Bend in river" is also written in black ink. A white border is around the entire photograph. On the right border a note is written in black ink about how the photograph was taken looking northwest above the dam. On the back in the middle "Mfgd. by M.L. Zercher Book and Sta. Ca., Topeka, Kan." is typed sideways in black ink. Information on when the postcard was acquired in on the back, 8/6/2000.
